(June 30, 2010) Frisco Economic Development Corporation, Vice President, Nancy C. Windham attended the Shanghai, China World Expo June 12-17 where she joined Governor Rick Perry, First Lady Anita Perry, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs, Secretary of State Hope Andrade, State Rep. Angie Chen Button, and representatives from several cities, chambers of commerce, economic development corporations and businesses as part of the TexasOne delegation, which was visiting during ‘Texas Week’.
The week’s activities included business and tourism seminars. During a business forum, hosted by TexasOne, Chinese businesses interested in looking to invest in Texas had an opportunity to learn about Frisco, Texas. Other activities included an American Chamber of Commerce Reception for approximately 78 businesses and a Texas Tourism Seminar and Luncheon in the U.S. Pavilion at the World Expo where Windham met approximately 55 representatives from travel management and meeting planner companies. TexasOne and the Dallas Regional Chamber sponsored the “Partnering for Success” dinner where approximately 180 companies were represented from China and the Dallas Fort Worth area.
“China was very impressive,” Nancy Windham said. “Texas’ Leadership worked tirelessly to reach out to so many companies from the business and tourism industries. There is great interest in the student exchange programs. Our presence and involvement raised the awareness of what Texas and the City of Frisco have to offer.”
Frisco, in conjunction again with TexasOne plans to return to China on a follow up trip this fall.
